Self-produced, recorded and mixed by the band’s own Cody McWaters, ‘Fool Me Once’ is the debut single by Brisbane indie five-piece Fresco Kyoto. With its syncopated groove, layered production and dramatic dynamics, it’s an emotive introduction to a group with a rare ear for detail.
Fresco Kyoto is centred around the evocative voice of Robbie Balmer – one of Brisbane’s most gifted young singers. Their diverse sound is difficult to label, though at times it evokes the brooding and melodic soundscapes of acts like Mansionair and London Grammar.
The band is the latest signing to boutique publisher/artist development company Double Drummer, following Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird and Why We Run.
‘Fool Me Once’ was independentlyreleased digitally worldwide via Double Drummer/AWAL on May 8.
